Why t*, should it not be z* thus = 1,960 for a Cl of 95% ?

what is the definition of a biased estimate in the statistical sense?
Does the sample size play a role when you want to know whether an estimator is biased or unbiased? When I try to look it up online it always just says that it's about the difference between estimator and population, but how can I know whether it is biased or not when I have an exercise like this:
Sample size plays a role in that as the sample gets bigger, you can apply the Central Limit Theorem and therefore the value will get closer to the correct value, although from what I can tell, sample mean is always an unbiased estimator for the population mean

hey. in question 6b where you used the t-table with 9 degrees of freedom how did you get to 1.100 ? Because t=1.18 and the value you got (1.100) is under .15 in the table. Do you have to just pick the closest range or how do you obtain the t-values best?
Hiiii, Well t=1.18 is not in the t-table. So we pick a range between 1,1 and1,383. Looking to the according p-value it has to be between 0,15 and 0,15. So, when the particular value is not in the table you pick a range. From that range you pick the biggest value for P, to stay safe. In this case 0,15
Hey. In Task 11e) you used the t*=1.960 but it is 1.984 or something in this direction. Would be great if you correct it.

In question 2 I came to the same result as you did, that they are not independent but I used a different approach. When two events are statistically indepedent that means that P(AandB) = P(A) x P(B) and since that is not the case in this question I concluded that they were statistically independent. Is my approach wrong ?

In your explanation about Type I and Type II errors, you state that a type I error increases if the Type 2 error increases and vice versa. This should be a negative correlation instead of a positive right?

can someone explain to me the difference between a discrete random variable and a continuous random variable ? because the continuous random variable was describe with the use of a density curve it seems to me that the difference is just that discrete random variable is a single number and the continuous random variable is an interval but I'm not sure ? could someone confirm me or explain to me what it really is ? thanks :)
Yes you are already on the right track. Continuous distributions become very important in the later tasks, when we are going to talk about the normal distribution and z-scores. An examples for a discrete random variable could be a score on a test (eg 78 points or 84, ...). It is discrete because you couldn’t get 78,425 points. A good example for a continuous random variable would be a mean score (eg mean of 2,1,5,7= 3,75). Depending on the individual scores the mean could be any number. Does that make sense?

If you manage to look at previous years exams that will help sooooo much. Each year they use almost exactly the same type of exercises. Of course there are changes with the data and names and not every exercise is the same, but very very similar.

When we are talking about a population, we talk about standard deviations. When we talk about a sample we call it a standard error. so it is basically the same thing! my bad
nop, when you are performing inference about a single data point you use Standard Deviation, but, when you are making inference about a SAMPLE MEAN, you use the Standard Error, that is why it is the Variance divided by the square root of the sample size...

On page 3 you state the standard deviation and give the formulae but isn't that the formulae for standard error of the sample mean?
