There is so much confusion about this but I think the lecture also said that radial= perpendicular. I try to remember it as the skull being a circle and the dipole being the radius. I hope its the right way around
Why is this an advantage? Because the magnetic fields are not as mixed as it would be for the electrical charges (EEG)? Resulting in a higher spatial resolution? But at the same time much less information is collected (which would be a disadvantage).
Can anyone clarify, please?
This spatial resolution advantage of MEG is also shown in the lecture 6 (table), and there is also says that MEG has a better depth pervasion than EEG

Thank you for your answer! :) So what you are saying is that the better spatial resolution is caused by decreased distortion of the magnetic signal relative to the electric signal in EEG. But it is not due to the fact that only tangentially oriented currents are measured in MEG.
