START IN - our BASF Trainee program - will immediately begin preparing you for future assignments at BASF by giving you challenging tasks, exciting projects and responsibility. Every START IN program is tailor-made to fit your specific talents. Bring your creativity, passion and pioneering spirit to BASF and start your professional career with us!

We operate a large number of chemical plants and systems at Ludwigshafen. Our interdisciplinary engineers work on and operate these systems and plants over their entire lifecycle - from planning to assembly, installation, operation and maintenance. You will work on an ongoing basis to improve technical equipment and availability, thereby ensuring smooth processes and workflows. Our trainee program will prepare you for this activity at our site in approximately two years. We will integrate you into various technical teams, where you will acquire subject specific and methodological skills. You will gradually get to know our processes and forge valuable ties that are important for your later target function. In line with your interests and strengths, the following options will be open to you later on:

  • You will select suitable technical solutions and plan as well as handle these solutions on a professional basis in projects.
  • Furthermore, you will be responsible for the implementation and installation of these projects on the construction site.
  • You will advance the systematic technical further development and evolution of your plant, which also includes identifying, budgeting for and ultimately placing orders for necessary measures.
  • In addition, you will organize all maintenance measures within a plant cluster and improve the processes on an ongoing basis in cooperation with our specialist unit.

We are looking for committed and dedicated candidates who enjoy working on their own responsibility and want to help shape the future of our company.
We have the following minimum requirements:

  • Diploma or master's degree in engineering with outstanding performance in the disciplines of process engineering / chemical engineering, electrical engineering, control / automation technology or mechanical engineering
  • At least three months spent doing an industrial internship
  • Fluent German language skills (at least level C1) and good English language skills (at least level B2)

From the very first day, START IN will support your further professional development as a specialist or manager. You will have the opportunity to learn about your own skills and to grow personally. Beyond this, you will be able to integrate quickly into the company, thanks to a wide range of networking events and seminars as well as continuous support from your personal mentor.
