How many correct do we need? 28?
yes :)
this should be when a C is substituted for a T (pyrimidines) or when an A is substituted for a G (purines)
this should be when a C is substituted for a T (pyrimidines) or when an A is substituted for a G (purines)
zou het kunnen dat je hier de W bedoelt ipv de B?
Inderdaad, W is de waarschijnlijkheid en B is het voordeel. Goed opgemerkt
Did anyone write down what was talked about during the last lecture when he went over questions and other important stuff for the exam?? Would really be thankful!

Hi Lia! In your mind map, in the part of Ape phylogeny, humans belong to Gibbons and also Genus homo, where do we actually belong? Thank you!
Genus Homo only :)
The line with gibbon, orangutan, etc... is the order in which our ancestral lines diverged from these species :)
you the bestest

I am so sorry guys, I totally uploaded the wrong document
Was the exam difficult?
Last year it wasn't to difficult. The year before it was quit hard.
Keep in mind last year was about 20 questions less. Now its 40 because it was "too easy".

This is once again such good work! You are my hero!
you killed it
I think this part is incorrect. The lagging strand is as well in the 5 to 3 direction. You might be confusing it with the difference between the template strand and the coding strand.

No it is in the opposite direction. Just google lagging strand and look at the first picture,
Yeah the polymerase jumps back but the coding is still in the same direction, it's chemically impossible for polymerase to code the other way around
does anyone have good summaries of the articles

Hey, your summary looks great, I really like the tables in the begining. I just have a question about the book you used. Which one was it?

This Year ridleys book is not used anymore, but I dont think that it would change the quality of your summary
yeah i agree. it's just about the content and how it's formulated

Could you upload your summary for Task 3 too?
yes, it's now uploaded ;)
Is there maybe a literature link list/ dropbox/ etc. somewhere? I cannot find a lot of the recommended literature.
Does anybody know where I can find "Behavioral Genetics" (4th Ed.) by Polmin, "Evolution and Genetics for Psychology" by Nettle & "Campbell biology'" by Campbell? Thanks for your help in advance! :)
love this list! I was wondering though: direct fitness is the amount of genes you pass to the next generation with your own offspring, no? (so you are clearly related)

does that make sense?
There's an answer to this question on the Discussion board
how many questions on the exam?

And you need to answer all of them

hey, on page 9, the ultimate and proximate explanations at the bottom (for altruism etc.) shouldn't it be the other way around?
No, he/she literally just copy and pasted what is in the table above :) so I think it is correct!

Didn't you just copy everything from M.N.'s summary?
How important is the Dutch example from the course manual? Did anyone make notes on it? Tutor asked that to be a LG but I didn't write anything...
I don't know, I don't have notes either... But that would be good to know!!!
Hello :) about the famine? If you don't understand this, there is a video in the course manual :)
Do we need to read all introductory textbooks or just pick one?
You have to choose your preferred one :)
OK thanks, I read Ridley which was only 15 pages which I find a bit odd so I wasn't sure if I should read more (will read the articles though)

MAJOR mistake on page 14: genetic variance DOES NOT serve to differentiate races! That was found when genome sequencing became available

I think d isn't correct, I mean the chromosomes have to be stored somewhere, right? I just googled it and the results confirmed that :)

They did! But for the simplicity I just used Y for yellow and G for green :) Might be confusing, but it helped me.
ok :)
You can substitue Y with A and G with a :) And for wrinkled and smooth they used B and b I think

i didn't look at this book, but didn't they refer differentiate between dominant and recessives alleles in terms of lower or upper case letters? So YG or Yg?

Hi, nice summary! You made an error with the classification of Cytosine as a purine though - it should be A&G (purines) and C&T (pyrimidines) :-)
